Duncan Fletcher - Team India's new coach

Duncan Fletcher is now the coach of the World Champions.

He takes over the responsibility from Gary Kirsten whose contract expired after the World Cup. He has been given a 2 year contract by BCCI and will start his coaching assignment immediately after the West Indies series. Given below are some of  his coaching credentials:

Here's something interesting. He has played only 6 ODI matches for Zimbabwe and has never played a test match at the international level. He was Zimbabwe's first ever ODI captain and led his team to a famous win against Australia in the 1983 World Cup.

It will be interesting how he handles media though. He never got along with the media. And Indian media will definitely be a challenge. This is what Michael Vaughan tweeted: "Duncan will work well with all the talent.. His biggest challenge will come from the media..he has never really understood how it works..!!"

Here's wishing Duncan Fletcher all the very best in his Indian assignment. But I have to say this, we will miss Gary Kirsten for sure !!

  1. in my view, in indian cricket Captain has more authoriy than Coach. therefore, any necessary action for the good of team must be taken first against Dhoni then Coach
