They say, A picture speaks a thousand words.. You believe so? In that case, can you comprehend this picture and write a 1000 words about it?
Camera: Samsung Wave S8500. Sepia conversion and blurring of contact details using IrfanView :D |
Background: I was waiting in my car for someone when I came across this "Notice". You can easily comprehend the intention of this notice. But there are some who try to hide inner reason by providing clues. Every part of the pic conveys a meaning and is there for a reason. The open door, open window, one pair of shoe left outside et al.
I tried my level best to decode the inner meaning of the "Notice" part of the pic and this is all I could gather -
1. You are requested NOT to remove your footwear outside the door. You may wear it and come inside. After all, it's not a worshiping center.
2. People residing in this room believe in a pre-1991 India (prior to open economy). So, imported footwear is banned!! Makes sense. No?
3. You are NOT supposed to leave your footwear outside. Apart from point 1, this could also be because of robbery. People in this room are genuinely concerned about their guests. Atithi Devo Bhava!! Now if you observe carefully, someone has left his shoes behind. He could be the thief!!
I could go on like this. My friends surely know that and are now habituated. But if I continue writing, I am sure my blog will be banned. Not by the Indian Government, but by fellow bloggers!!
PS: Hope you got what I was trying to convey using the post topic "A thousand confusing words..". And now you know why I don't have a photo blog. :D
NOW you have given me a reason to envy you :DD
ReplyDeletekya talent hai....ek pic...and ek pura blog post on it :)) and woh bhi, whattay picture!!!!
your interpretations made me think, when or if u visit art galleries, wonder what THOSE pics will lead to - a thesis!! :))
After following each other's blogs for quite sometime, I have finally given you a reason to envy me :D :D
DeleteMaybe there's a reason why I don't visit art galleries :P
lmao .. like the interpretations .. "no outdoor footwear?" ... :D ... i guess they meant to leave one's footwear outside , but it ended up this way :P ...
ReplyDeleteYeah, it means the obvious, but the way it was written made all the other interpretations possible!! :)
DeleteThis is interesting binu. The pic is great it conveys something. But frankly speaking, I didn't get what you wanted to convey exactly. a picture speaks a 1000 words and that's the beauty of it, is what I feel.
ReplyDeleteIf you continue writing I don't think your fellow bloggers will ban your blog, atleast I don't...:D.
Thanks Prashanth. Your confusion is exactly what I wanted to convey!! The pic is just a metaphor.. :) Here, a pic speaks a 1000 words, but those words depends on the person who is interpreting it his / her way.. :)
DeleteOr it can simply mean that, in this place footwear used outdoors are not allowed. Get your indoors footwear (Ghar ka chappal) and use that. :P
ReplyDeleteYou wont believe, but in my last office, that's how the system was. :-)
Its a random blog, but yeah your words and pics definitely brings a smile. :-)
That's a great point Aditi.. "Ghar ka chappal" should've been part of this.. Thanks yaar :)
Deletei guess what they meant by the notice might be ' you cant come inside wearing a footwear which you normally wear outdoors ' . . thats one more to ur list of implicit meanings for this photograph . . good one isnt ? :) loved the way a snap set your mind whirring :)
ReplyDeleteIt seems I missed out on onething that everyone observed :) Great point Maliny :)
DeleteI see!
ReplyDeleteA picture never tell the hole truth.., it can be told a lot of adventure based on one image.. that`s one reason why I like shooting:-) The truth is in my head, haha
True Tania.. A picture seldom tells the whole 'truth' :)
DeleteHahaha.. Yup, a thousand confusing thoughts do arise.. :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe the notice was supposed to be inside...
Interesting one, Binu bhai :)
Long time, eh? ellam soukyam thaan ennu vishwasikunnu :)
I am fine Raj... Ellam sukham tanne!! :D
Deleteha ha.. those were some hilarious interpretations. ;) I could see the word "Consultants" in the picture too. I was thinking you might somehow bring that one in too. :P But seriously.. really liked your imaginative thinking. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Raj.. I really wanted to describe that word too.. But you see, it would've made the post a 'professional' one..
Deletehaha....awesome conclusions!! I was wondering what would you do if you had to go inside?????
ReplyDeleteMaybe we can visualize that and describe it in another post, what say?? :)
Deletewell executed post! :) I think you should add your blog here : Young Bloggers Network
ReplyDeleteThanks Ankit :)
Deletegehehehehehehe.. :P
ReplyDeleteNow that is some strong interpretations for just those two words :D
Thanks Red :) Now was that a smile or a monstrous laugh!! :P
DeleteLOL...What a capture Sirji!
ReplyDeleteWith this post and the ability to spot the extraordinary in ordinary, you can certainly have a photo blog. :)
Thanks Saru... If you check the comments, you'll realize that you are the first one who thinks I can have a photo blog :D
DeleteSecond thoughts, I think I should comment more on photo blogs.. :)

Thanks Saru :) It's always a pleasure when appreciated from your end :)
DeleteAmusing! A picture certainly speaks a thousand words, this post very well proves that point! Real hilarious and creative (mis)interpretations, should i say?! :D
ReplyDelete(mis)interpretations, it was!! Thanks yaar :)
DeleteHmm... In that case, I should continue interpreting stuffs rather than having a photo blog :D Thanks Ashwini..
ReplyDeleteGood efforts !
ReplyDeleteLOL! Your interpretations were funny! I enjoyed reading them than the photo you posted. But yes indeed, a photo speaks volumes!!!! :)
